Rep. Jonathan Gaza (SDP-Nasarawa), representing Kokona, Keffi and Karu Federal Constituency, has urged the electorate not to vote based on sentiments or money in the 2023 general elections.
Gaza made the call in his Christmas message to his constituents supporters across the three Local Governments Areas that made up the constituency, on Sunday in Keffi.
The lawmaker, who is the SDP candidate for the Constituency, commended the present administration for its commitment and determination to conduct free, fair and credible elections in 2023.
He said: ” Let first and foremost I appreciate the essence of Christmas and what it is all about. Christmas is a time of sharing and a period where our lord and savior was born into the world take the sins of the world and pay the ultimate sacrifice which was the reason he came.
” Bearing that in mind, we ought to take Christmas as a period of sober reflection when we will take stock of what had happened through the year and begin to set new goals moving into the new year.
” So, my message to each and every one this Christmas more so that it coincided with the election early next year is that please be spiritual, pray and see God first with regards to the future of the country and do not vote base on sentiment, money and intimidation. ”
Gaza said that the current administration scored high points in ensuring free and fair elections.
” And we must appreciate the innovation that has been put in place like the Bimodal Voter Accreditation System (BVAS).
” And as for me, I take it as Christmas gift and I want to thank the present administration for that. I wish everybody a merry Christmas and most prosperous new year,” Gaza said.
