The Kano Governorship Election Petition Tribunal has sacked the Kano State governor, Abba Yusuf, and has declared the candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Nadir Gawuna, the winner of the 18 March election, the Daily Trust newspaper is reporting.
Daily Review gathers that the tribunal cancelled thousands of votes from various polling units won by the NNPP after the defeated APC candidate, Yusuf Gawuna rushed to court to challenge the decision by the INEC to declare Abba Kabir Yusuf of NNPP as the winner of the governorship election in the NNPP candidate polled the highest number of votes.
Security tightened in Kano
There is a report of heavy security in Kano ahead of the court’s judgement today. Thousands of security forces have been deployed in strategic locations in Kano, and the security forces have restricted movement around Government House, Bompai and other places.
