With less than a week to the Governorship and House of Assembly elections, Nasarawa State Governor, Abdullahi Sule, has warned that his government will not allow a religious crisis in the state.

Sule stated this during a meeting with the Jama’atu Nasril Islam (JNI), the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), the Emir of Lafia and Chairman of the state Traditional Council and retired Justice Sidi Bage-Mohammed on Saturday in Lafia.

He said that the meeting was necessitated because of the dangerous religious dimension of ongoing politics ahead of the March 11 elections.

Sule said, “Nasarawa State has always been seen as a peaceful place and there are Muslims and Christians in virtually every family. So, the government cannot allow a religious crisis in the state.

“If the state isn’t peaceful, even those inciting people cannot have the time to send those messages, as everybody will be on the run.”

He added, “Power comes from God and He gives it to whoever He wants at any time, so, as politicians, we should only present ourselves to the people.
