In the age of digital music, where stars are created by virality on social media, it takes more than just luck to create music, music has to be driven to by passion, like our featured artiste, in this interview we featured Nyema a music rising star based in Turkey, in this interview, she gives us a peep into what drives her craft and why she is a star to watch out for 

Daily Review: What’s your name and where are you from ?

Nnyema: My name is Nnyema Benson Ekon

Daily Review: Tell us about yourself!

Nnyema: I’m a graduate of Business Administration from Akwa Ibom state polytechnic, currently living in Turkey

Daily Review: When did you start music ?

Nnyema: I started music professionally in 2013, my first single was titled “My love” it was produced by reflex

Daily Review: What’s the inspiration behind your going into music?

 Nnyema: Love and passion. I love music. It gives me the opportunity to voice out my inner feelings

Daily Review: You have a new single out, that’s out on all platforms, what’s the song about ? 

Nnyema: I wrote this song when I was 12 years old. This was because I saw that something wasn’t right about my nation, I needed to let people know that we don’t have another place to call home but here. But it’s quite unfortunate that this song is still relevant after so many years. This song is to further highlight the tyrannical rulership we have experienced over and over.

Daily Review: What kind of music do you sing ?  

Nnyema: I’m not tied to a particular kind of sound, I’m a musician, I just want to be able to express myself with music irrespective of the sound

Daily Review: Your music has messages, are you trying to use the medium of music to pass messages across to those in authority? 

Nnyema: Yes. I want them to know that we see them. We are not ignorant of their selfish and greedy desires, their  negligence to the needs and cries of the people, I want them understand that power belongs to the people, and just one day we’ll take it back

Daily Review: What’s your personal aspirations for your music  career ?  

Nnyema: To create a platform where thousands of voices can be heard through me* *To project humanity as the only tribe,race and ethnicity I just want people to feel, see and touch love when listening to me

Daily Review: Are you open to collaborations? Signings and other windows of opportunities? 

Nnyema: Yes, I’m open to them, suffice it is within my principles and what I stand for
