Bago Niger State’s Governor elect assembles 71 experts to drive the future of Niger

Niger State’s governor-elect has assembled 71-member committees to drive the future of Niger State as he prepares to take charge of the state on 29th May, 2023.

The Transition, Inauguration and Secretariat committees gathered at the Justice Idris Legbo Kutigi International Conference Center in Minna on Thursday, 6th April, 2023.

While swearing-in the members of the committees, the governor-elect urged them to ensure a smooth and successful handover, and coordination is a key to a smooth take-off the in-coming administration.

“Our intentions are clear not negative or personal, but in the interest of Nigerlites because posterity will surely judge us. By Allah, we have promised to be professional, honest and we shall afterwards make our finding clear to the public so that upon our exit too, we shall be judged accordingly,” Umar Bago told the committee.

Hon. Muhammad Umar Bago also calls on the member to be accountable and discharge their various duties diligently, clarifying that it is people who gave him the mandate, and they have to be accountable for whatever they do.

“We have promised Nigerlites to be accountable, and responsible, to protect them and our resources, irrespective of tribe, religion or race. To achieve this, we are expected to be professional, diligent and firm. We need the understanding of all and sundry.”

It would be recalled that the Independent National Electoral Commission declared Hon. Muhammad Umar Bago the winner of Niger State Governorship Election after polling 469,896 votes to defeat his closest challenger, Isah Liman-Kantigi of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) who scored 387,476 votes.

Malam Suleiman Ndanusa is the chairman of the transition council, while HE Comr Yakubu Garba and Eng. Mustapha Bello were co-chairs of the Inauguration and Secretariat Committee. Among the committees’ members are the veteran journalist and news producer, Al-Kasim Abdulkadir, and the publisher of the Daily Review Newspaper. Other members include Garba Muhammad Dukku, Prof. Bashir Nuhu Tachi, Micheal Ango, Uncle Bash, Alhaji Ibrahim Bako Shettima, Dr. Mustapha Jibrin Alheri among others.

The committees have been ordered to start working immediately.
