By Bashir Aliyu

Abuja, Nigeria — The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Mr. Nyesom Wike, on Monday distributed 10,000 bags (25kg) of rice to religious leaders, Muslim groups, and vulnerable communities in the FCT as part of the administration’s annual Ramadan support initiative.

The gesture, delivered in Gwagwalada by the Minister’s Chief of Staff, Mr. Chidi Amadi, aimed to alleviate food burdens for less privileged Muslims during the holy month. Beneficiaries included religious associations, graded chiefs, and the FCT Welfare Association.

Solidarity with the Muslim Community

Mr. Amadi emphasized the Minister’s commitment to supporting residents, stating:

“This distribution reflects the Minister’s empathy and value for the religious community. As Muslims observe fasting and prayers, we ensure they have sustenance to break their fast.”

He described Ramadan as a sacred period requiring collective support, particularly for vulnerable households.

Malam Sani Daura, FCTA Director of Protocol, noted that the initiative aligns with the FCT Administration’s tradition of prioritizing residents’ welfare during festive periods. He added that the package would extend to graded chiefs and other community leaders.

Recipients praised the Minister’s thoughtfulness:

The event concluded with prayers for the Minister’s successful tenure.
