FCT Police Respond to Allegations of Walkie Talkie Left in Motorist’s Car

The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command has issued a statement addressing a viral video claiming that police officers left a walkie talkie in a motorist’s vehicle during an alleged extortion attempt.

In a press release, the police emphasized the importance of verifying facts before disseminating such serious accusations. They criticized the program anchor who shared the video for not contacting police authorities for clarification, highlighting that the claims lacked corroboration.

The police noted that the walkie talkie in question might be linked to three devices reported missing last year in Gwagwalada, referenced in a police  communication dated February 16, 2023. According to the police, all currently used walkie talkies in the FCT are accounted for, with no recent reports of missing equipment.

The FCT Police Command urged the program’s anchor and the motorist involved to come forward with additional information or the walkie talkie itself, stating that their cooperation is essential for a thorough investigation.

SP Josephine Adeh, the Police Public Relations Officer, reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to transparency and accountability, calling on residents to assist in promoting justice and truth within the community.
