The National Secretary General of Jama’atu Nasril Islam (JNI), Prof. Khalid Aliyu Abubakar, has lauded the Director General of the State Services (DGSS), Oluwatosin Adeola Ajayi, for hosting a remarkable Iftar event for the Muslim Ummah.
Prof. Abubakar emphasized the significance of the gesture, noting that it would significantly contribute to promoting religious harmony in Nigeria. He described Ajayi’s initiative to unite Muslims and Christians as historic and commendable.
Despite being the son of Christian clerics, Ajayi has demonstrated an exceptional commitment to religious tolerance, Prof. Abubakar noted. He also highlighted the inclusion of less privileged individuals and those with special needs at the event, stating, “I understand that Mr. Tosin traditionally hosts and empowers them. This is commendable and should be emulated.”
The JNI Secretary General prayed for divine wisdom to guide Ajayi in addressing Nigeria’s security challenges.
The event, held on March 1, 2025, brought together Muslim and Christian leaders, as well as less privileged individuals and people with special needs from across the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).
Notable Islamic leaders in attendance included Barrister Harun Muhammad Eze, Imam of the National Mosque; Sheikh Dr. Tajuddeen Adigun, Chairman of the FCT Imams Committee; Imam Fuad of Al-Habibiyyah Mosque; and Dr. Bashir Abdullahi Ismail, Imam of FOMWAN.
The gathering also featured revered Christian clerics such as Rev’d Fr. Peter Babangida Audu of the Catholic Secretariat of Nigeria, Fr. Michael Banjo, Fr. Boniface Idoko, Revd. Saboyaro Adams of CAN FCT Secretariat, Revd. Canon Smart S. Simon, Senior Apostle Beneni Iyaye, Rev. Nicodemus Izuduchukwu, Rev. Timothy Amakom (CAN Chairman FCT), and Ogbonife Nnamdi of GCFN.
The inter-faith Iftar underscored the importance of unity and mutual respect among Nigeria’s diverse religious communities, setting a powerful example for national cohesion.
