A group, Egbe Omo Igbomina, held a reception for the Minister of Information and Culture, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, following the conferment of national award on him.
The reception, which was held at Igbomina House in Ilorin on Sunday, was also in honour of three other personalties, all of the Igbomina ethnic stock of Kwara.
They are Alhaji Kamorudeen Yusuf, Prof. Wale Suleiman and Mr Iyinoluwa Aboyeji.
The President of Egbe Omo Igbomina, Gabriel Jimoh, urged the awardees not to rest on their oars.
”You should continue to do what you know how best to do so as to achieve greater things for the country.
”God will take you to greater heights, this is the beginning of greater achievements in your life.
”And as you continue in life, always remember Igbomina land as you have always done,” Jimoh said.
He appealed to all Igbomina to continue to engage in noble endeavours which would attract national and global recognition.
The minister, who was represented by the immediate past Vice Chancellor of University of Ilorin, Prof. Suleiman Age, said it was an honour to be recognised by the country.
Suleiman, on his part, said it was exciting for him to be honoured by President Muhammadu Buhari even after receiving several international awards.
”We are grateful that he has chosen four Igbomina indigenes to be honoured.
”I have received many awards outside the country but it is more honourable to have received from the president of my country.
”Everything I have been doing has been about giving back to the people and this is an encouragement to do more,” Suleiman said.
