NDLEA Arrests Drug Traffickers, Seizes Illicit Substances in Nationwide Raids

Operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) have intercepted multiple drug shipments and arrested several suspects in a nationwide crackdown on narcotics trafficking.

At the Port Harcourt International Airport, Rivers State, NDLEA officers on Sunday, 3rd May 2025, arrested Ihensekhien Miracle Obehi, a woman attempting to smuggle cocaine to Iran via Doha. She concealed the drugs in her private parts, stomach, and a false compartment in her handbag. After observation, 67 wraps of cocaine weighing 2.523kg were recovered from her system.

In Lagos, a 22-year-old British ex-convict, Campell Kaizra Kofi Johannes Slifer, was arrested at the Murtala Mohammed International Airport with 37.60kg of Loud, a strong cannabis strain, hidden in two suitcases. Slifer admitted to previous convictions in the UK for drug trafficking and robbery.

In Niger State, NDLEA operatives intercepted a fuel tanker and three vehicles on 7th May, seizing 3,047kg of skunk (a high-grade cannabis) packed in 246 bags. Four suspects were arrested.

Other major seizures include:

  • 109,914 pills of tramadol, swinol, and nitrozepam recovered from two suspects in Lagos.
  • 52.5kg of skunk seized from two suspects in Kaduna.
  • 505kg of skunk intercepted in Bauchi.
  • 775 litres of codeine syrup confiscated in Kano.

NDLEA Chairman, Brig. Gen. Mohamed Buba Marwa (Rtd), commended the operatives and urged the public to report suspicious drug activities. The agency also intensified its War Against Drug Abuse (WADA) campaign with sensitization programs in Sokoto, Anambra, Akwa Ibom, and Oyo States.
