The Acting National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Amb. Umar Damagum, has urged Muslims across Nigeria to use the holy month of Ramadan to foster political unity, national cohesion, and peaceful coexistence.
In a Ramadan message released on Sunday in Sokoto, Damagum emphasized the importance of supplications for Nigeria’s peace, progress, and development. The message, delivered through his Senior Special Assistant on Media and Communications, Malam Yusuf Dingyadi, highlighted the need for collective efforts to address the nation’s challenges.
“Nigeria needs political stability and unity, especially with the current security challenges bedeviling the country. This is becoming a source of concern to our survival as a nation,” Damagum stated.
He called on wealthy Nigerians to extend acts of kindness and generosity beyond their immediate families, urging them to support the less privileged during the holy month.
Damagum also encouraged Muslims to emulate the exemplary lifestyle of the Holy Prophet Muhammad (Peace Be Upon Him), particularly his emphasis on generosity and compassion.
The PDP chairman’s message resonates amid growing concerns over Nigeria’s security and economic challenges, with many hoping that the spirit of Ramadan will inspire unity and collective action for the nation’s progress.
