Abuja, Nigeria — Senator Ned Nwoko (APC-Delta) has praised President Bola Tinubu for initiating the construction of the Second Niger Bridge access road and the rehabilitation of the Asaba-Benin Expressway, calling the projects “critical to national integration.”

In a statement issued on Monday, Nwoko, who represents Delta North Senatorial District and serves on the Senate Committee on Works, described the projects as strategic for economic growth in the South-South, South-East, and the entire nation.

Strategic Importance

Nwoko highlighted the Tinubu administration’s focus on infrastructure as a driver of unity and development:

“These projects reaffirm your commitment to economic integration, national cohesion, and infrastructural renewal. The Asaba-Benin Expressway’s deplorable state had long caused hardship for commuters and businesses. As a senator, I persistently advocated for this intervention—and today’s progress is a testament to collaborative governance.”

The lawmaker noted that the Senate, under President Godswill Akpabio, had passed a resolution prioritizing nationwide road rehabilitation to: boost economic activities, reduce accidents, and improve transportation efficiency.

He expressed gratitude that Delta State was among the first beneficiaries despite fiscal constraints.

Nwoko commended Works Minister David Umahi for his “hands-on approach” to delivering quality infrastructure. He pledged continued collaboration with the federal government to advance regional development.

“This progress is a collective triumph for our region. I look forward to more initiatives that uplift our people.”
