Tuggar, German FM discuss cooperation and regional security

The German Foreign Minister Annalena BAERBOCK has vowed to support Nigeria in its effort to entrench democracy in West Africa, praising the country for its roles in restoring democracy in Niger.

Ambassador Yusuf Maitama Tuggar received a courtesy call from his German counterpart on August 23rd during which the German top diplomat congratulated the minister for his contribution to Nigeria-Germany relation during his five-year spell as Nigeria’s ambassador to Germany.

Daily Review learns from reliable source that Germany also praised Nigeria for hardline stance against military coups in West Africa, reiterating its support for the restoration of democracy in Nigeria.

H.E Yusuf Maitama Tuggar. He informed the German diplomat of the Tinubu Doctrine of “4-D Diplomacy,” which aims to promote and protect democracy in the sub-region. Minister TUGGAR called for a unified regime of sanctions and urged regional and international partners to coordinate effectively to maintain pressure on the military junta. In addition, Minister TUGGAR noted Minister BAERBOCK’s passion for renewable energy and requested that the two countries explore partnerships on the economy and climate.

Daily Review reports that Nigeria is the largest economy in West Africa and it is the most influential member in the bloc.

It could be recalled that Ambassador Yusuf Maitama Tuggar pledged to promote democracy and development in West Africa, singling out Niger Republic as the top issue.
