Ekweremadu, wife and daughter convicted of organ trafficking by UK court

Must read

The British court at the Old Bailey has found Ike Ekweremadu, his wife, Beatrice, and their daughter, Sonia for a conspiracy to exploit a boy by trafficking him to the UK for organ harvesting in order to enable their daughter, Sonia, who has been suffering from renal failure, to have a kidney transplant with the connivance of a Nigerian doctor, Obinna Obeta who has also been convicted of complicity in the foiled plot to exploit the boy’s poverty which is contrary to the Modern Slavery Act.

They have been accused of conspiring to lure a street boy, named withheld for legal reasons, from Lagos in order to remove his kidney and pave the way for Sonia, 25, to have a kidney transplant.

In February, 2022, Ekweremadu, his wife, daughter, and the medical doctor had been arrested and charged to court for child trafficking.

The court is expected to deliver sentence on the four convicts later today.
