Kaduna-Abuja rail service resumes amid tight security

Must read

Abuja-Kaduna train station finally begins operations today (Monday) after almost eight months of delay to bolster security at the rail station amid insecurity challenge in Kaduna.

Our correspondent in Abuja who was present at the train station as early as 7am to catch up with the resumption activities observed that there were armed police officers at the train station.

Attack on the Abuja-Kaduna train on March 28, 2022 killed eight people with 168 passengers being kidnapped. Many of the victims described their experience in the hands of the terrorists as ‘harsh,’ and the entire passengers were freed from their abductors after various rounds of negotiations between the government and the terrorists.

The release of the victims had been in batches since then, with the last 23 freed in October.

While observing activities at the Idu rail station, passengers accompanied by their loved ones were seen carrying luggage moving towards the ticket hall to obtain boarding tickets for the first train scheduled to take off to Rigasa in Kaduna by 9:45 am.
