The trial of a Chinese national, Frank Geng-Quangrong over alleged murder of his Nigerian girlfriend, Ummukulsum Sani before a Kano High Court was on Tuesday stalled due to the absence of the father of the victim who is a prosecution witness.
As the court resumed sitting Tuesday for continuation of hearing, prosecution counsel , Mr Wada Ahmad, apologised to the court as well as the defence counsel for his inability to produce the last prosecution witness.
He told the court that the witness’s father was undergoing dialysis at the Aminu Teaching Hospital Kano and sought for an adjournment.
“Our witness’s father is seriously sick and he is the caregiver.
“We apologise to the court and defence counsel”, Wada said.
He prayed the court to adjourn its sitting to Dec.21, assuring that the witness will attend the court proceeding.
On his part, the Defence counsel Mr Muhammad Balarabe Dan’azumi did not object to submission of prosecution counsel.
Justice Sanusi Ado-Ma’aji, adjourned the matter until Wednesday for hearing.
