The Kwara State Police Command has confirmed the arrest of popular singer Habeeb Badmus, widely known as Portable, over allegations of criminal defamation, threat to life, and incitement to violence.
In a statement issued by the command’s spokesperson, SP Adetoun Ejire-Adeyemi, the arrest followed a formal petition filed cby Mr. Okunola Saheed (aka Osupa), accusing Portable of riminal defamation, threat to life, character assassination, incitement and conduct likely to breach public peace, and use of abusive and insulting language.
Key Details of the Arrest:
- A Magistrate Court in Ilorin issued a valid arrest warrant. Police operatives apprehended Portable in Abeokuta, Ogun State, on Saturday at 7:25 PM.
- The arrest was conducted in the presence of legal representatives from both parties. Portable remains in custody as authorities finalize arrangements for his arraignment.
Statement from Kwara Police:
“The command is committed to upholding the rule of law and ensuring justice is served transparently. We urge the public to avoid speculation and await official updates as the case progresses,” SP Ejire-Adeyemi stated.
